A BeeWeaver Queen and her daughters
BeeWeaver Queens -- It's all about the Genetics.
BeeWeaver Queens allow you to return to the days of Organic Beekeeping -- you can maintain strong healthy hives of bees without miticides using our genetically superior queens. Only the very best pass the BeeWeaver test. We identify colonies that exhibit the qualities you and we want - Strong healthy hives that produce abundant honey crops and thrive even under adverse conditions. We are especially careful to select only those queens that found colonies able to thrive in the presence of Varroa mites without the need for chemical controls. Equally important, we work constantly to incorporate new genetic material in our breeding population, ensuring that our BeeWeaver population contains the genetic diversity to adapt to future challenges.
After 3 years of testing we are confident that our queens and bees are resistant to many of the viral pathogens that wreak havoc with most US bees. BeeWeaver colonies have proven capable of surviving viral infection by several of the most dangerous viral pathogens of honey bees. After deliberate innoculation with Deformed Wing Virus (DWV), Black Queen Cell Virus (BQCV), Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus (IAPV) and Kashmir Bee Virus (KBV), BeeWeaver colonies were able to suppress viral infections, and in some cases completely clear the viral infection after a short period of time. Results of these test will be published in the scientific literature in the near future.
Each year we select only the very best performers to provide the foundation for the subsequent generation of queens. BeeWeaver queens are reared from 1st instar larvae of rigorously selected BeeWeaver Breeder Queens. We have been engaged in bee breeding for generations and our bees demonstrate their pedigree with performance.
